Square Roots

Squares (as in square roots)

So, who thought of this?

It was the Babylonian people of Mesopotamia who came up with the idea.

What are they??!!

Let me explain this in the best way I can:

Square roots are numbers that are the product of a number times itself.

For Example : 5x5=25 , 25 is 5 squared. 3x3=9 , the square root of 9 is then 3.

How do we use them?

Say you are trying to find 6 sqared. Then you would multiply 6 by itself.( You get 36)

If you wanted to find the square root of 81, you would ask yourself "what times itself equals 81." (You get 9)

Here is a list of Squares and Square roots:

I know this table doesn't go on to infinity, so for an online calculator, go to http://www.rcs.k12.va.us/csjh/square_root.htm?number=54&result= This site lets you type in a number and find that number squared

hey shayna. I was a little confused about the chart. Maybe you shouldn't highlight it in black. Also, you spelled "is" wrong.

How do you find the value of square roots for numbers that are not perfect squares? More links would be helpful.
