Fraction, Decimal, and Percent
Change Fraction to Decimal:
If you have a fraction, you use the numerator divided by the denominator, and then you will get a demical
number. That's how fraction change into a decimal.
Example: 1/2 = 0.5 use 1 divide by 2 then you will get 0.5
If the numerator is bigger than the denominator, the decimal you get will be greater than 1.
Example: 6/4 = 1.5 1.5>1 you use 6 divide by 4, you get 1.5, because 1 equals to 4/4, and 0.5 means 2/4, so if you add them together you will get 6/4. Or write it in mixed number, it will be 1 2/4.
Change Decimal Back to Fraction:
If you want to change a decimal back to a fraction you will:
Example: Express 0.75 as a fraction.
Step 1: Write down:
Step 2: Multiply both top and bottom by 100 (becasue there were 2 digits after the decimal place):
× 100 |
|
0.75 |
= |
75 |
|
|
1 |
100 |
|
× 100 |
Step 3: Simplify the fraction:
÷ 25 |
|
75 |
= |
3 |
|
|
100 |
4 |
|
÷ 25 |
Answer = 3/4
If you have a decimal, you just move 2 place values to the right to get a percent, and don't forget the percent sign.
Example: 0.5 =50%
From Decimal |
To Percent |
|
|
move the decimal point 2 places to the right, and add the "%" sign. |
Change Percent Back to Fraction:
ok finally, if you want to change percent back to fraction, ummmmmmm it a little more complicated, but if you are smart then i am sure you can get it.
ok here it is, when you get a percent. You ''cut'' the percent sign, put the number on the numerator, and put 100 on the denominator, because 100/100 equal to 1.
Then if you want to simplify just find the common fractor and simplify.
Example: 50% =50/100=1/2

Identifying Equivalent Decimals and Fractions
Decimals are a type of fractional number. The decimal 0.5 represents the fraction 5/10. The decimal 0.25
represents the fraction 25/100. Decimal fractions always have a denominator based on a power of 10.
We know that 5/10 is equivalent to 1/2 since 1/2 times 5/5 is 5/10. Therefore, the decimal 0.5 is equivalent to 1/2 or 2/4.
Some common Equivalent Decimals and Fractions:
- 0.1 and 1/10
- 0.2 and 1/5
- 0.5 and 1/2
- 0.25 and 1/4
- 0.50 and 1/2
- 0.75 and 3/4
- 1.0 and 1/1 or 2/2 or 1
What is Fraction
In mathematics, a fraction is a concept of a proportional relation between an object part and the object whole.
Each fraction consists of a denominator and a numerator, representing the number of equal parts that an object is divided,
and the number of those parts indicated for the particular fraction.
What is Percent
In mathematics, a percentage is a way of expressing a number as a fraction of 100 (per cent meaning "per hundred"). It is
often denoted using the percent sign, "%".
What is Decimal
A number that uses place value and a decimal point to show values less than one, such as tenths and hundredths.

Nice work! :] But maybe you should explain what fractions, decimals, and percents are first and how they're all related.

The light blue is a little hard to read, you might want to think about making it a little darker. But that's just my opinion. Some of the lines are cut off also, so it might look better if there are more spaces between lines.

Ooooohh.Very 1337. It's very colorful, and the tables are helpful. Still, could you please add definitions of fractions, decimals, and percents? That would be VERY helpful. =^____^=

Some of the words are bunched up...you should fix that. I know most people who use MySpace and all that can read the bright colors (like the bright and light blue you used), but not me. That just kind of stings my eyes...
