MULTIPLICATION
Multiplication is one of the four main mathematical operations and is the inverse operation of Division. It is the operation of adding multiple copies of the same number.
Multiplication is written using the multiplication sign (x) or a period or dot (.).
EXAMPLES:
5+5+5+5+5= 25 is equal to 5x5=25
A multiplication table ("times table", when used to teach young children starting to learn multiplication) is a grid where rows and columns are headed by the numbers to multiply, and the entry in each cell is the product of the column and row headings.
Multiplying larger numbers with more than one digit is a little bit different but still pretty easy.
step 1.First you multiply the first digit in the bottom number (5) with the first number on the top number (0). 5x0=0 so drop down the zero. then you multiply the first digit in the bottom number (5) again with the second digit on the top number (5). 5x5=25 and drop it down again.
step 2.Start a new row and add a zero. repeat step 1 using the second digit in the bottom number this time.
step 3. Add the two new numbers together. 250 +500 and the answer is 750.
