Inequalities
whats a Inequality ???????
An inequality is a statement that shows the realationship between two ( or more) expressions,
with one of following five signs <, ≤, >, ≥, ≠. Also an inequality is a effective way to show a
relationship between a vaaruable and a number. A inequality could also be between two numbers.
Example 1-
3<5.... Means that 5 is greater than 3.
Example 2-
3 ≤ 5... Means that 5 is greater than or equal to 5.
Example 3-
6>5.... Means that 6 is greater than five.
Example 4-
6 ≥ 5... Means that 6 is greater than or equal to 5.
Example 5-
6 ≠ 5.... Means that 6 is not equal to five.
Try it.
What is larger????
x>5 |
Answer x is greater than 5. |
x< 2 |
Answer 2 is greater than x. |
x< 5 |
Answer 5 is greater than x. |
Inequalities with varibles.....
Example-
3x+5<11
-5<-5 (subtract 5 by both sides.)
3x<6
÷3 ÷3 (divide by both sides to get x by itself.)
x<2 (x is less than 2).
Example-
5x+5>15
5x-5>-5 (subtract 5 from both sides)
5x>10
÷5>÷5 (divide 5 to both sides)
x>2 (x is greater than 2)
Try it.
solve for X??????
5x+5>15 |
Answer is X =2 |
3x+5>11 |
Answer is X =2
|
5x+20<50 |
Answer is X =6 |

You should settle on a darker, non-highlighted font. It'd be much easier to read that way. People would focus more on the colors with their eyes than the text itself.
