Diameter

What is Diameter?

Diameter is a line segment that connects the two sides of the circle, but it has to go through the middle point of the circle. That means that the Diameter is the biggest line segment in the Circle.

How can you tell the diameter

from the Chord?

It's easy to tell the diameter from the Chord, the Chord connects both sides of the circle, but doesn't go thorough the center of the circle like the diameter.

This is an example of a Chord:

As you see, the chord connects two parts of a circle, but it doesn't go through the center.

This is an example of how the Diameter differs from the Chord:

As you clearly see in this picture, the diameter connects the two sides of the circle just like the chord, but it goes through the center point, shown in the circle as a black point.

How would you be able to find the Diameter using

the radius?

To find the diameter using the radius is really easy, the first thing you need to know is that the radius is half the diameter, which means that the radius connects the middle point of the circle with one of the sides in the circle. So to find the diameter you need to multiply the radius by two, and that way you will have the radius.

Ex: If the radius is 5 inch, then what is the diameter?

The first step you need to make is an equation like this, 5*2=x, then you solve the equation which is 5*2, so the diameter is 10inch.

What do we use the diameter for?

There are a lot of uses for the diameter. Using the diameter you could find the circumference of the circle, by multiplying pi which is approximately 3.14159265 (you could use 3.14 instead) by the diameter of the circle and that will give you the circumference.

Ex: If the diameter of the circle is 4, and you want to find the circumference, you need to multiply pi (3.14) by 4 and that will equal 12.56.

You could also use the diameter to find the area of the circle, all you need to do is to divide the diameter by 2, then what ever you get you multiply it with the same number, like #*#. And then you multiply it with Pi.

Ex: If you want to find the area of a circle that it's diameter is 6, you need to divide it by 2, which will equal 3, and then multiply it with the same number, or 3*3, which equals 9 and then multiply it by pi (3.14), which equals 28.26, and that is the area of the circle.

How to find the diameter using the area or

circumference of the circle:

To find the diameter of the circle using the circumference is very easy, all you need to do is to divide the circumference by pi (3.14), because you multiply pi by the diameter to get the circumference, but to get the diameter you need to do the opposite.

Diameter * pi=Circumference     Circumference / pi=diameter

Ex: If the circumference is 26, and you need to find the diameter, all you need to do is to divide 26 by pi (3.14), which means that the diameter is 8.280254777. And if we multiply 8.280254777 by 3.14 you will get approximately 26.

To find the diameter of the circle is easy if you follow the steps carefully, first you need to divide the area by 3.14, and that will get you the radius multiplied by the radius. So then you need to find the square root of that number, and that will get you the radius, and then multiply the radius by two and that will get you the diameter.

Ex: if you have an area of 16in, you need to divide it by 3.14, which equals 5.095541401, then you find the square root of that number which is 2.257330592, and that is the radius, and then you multiply that by 2, which equals 4.514661184, and that is the diameter.

Great page. Nice clear information, well presented. Some spelling and grammar errors cost you a point as does making edits after the due date. Did you really misspell your own name?

2.5 of 4 points for your final page. Overall project score 10 of 12.
