 Binomials

Definition: An algebraic expression that is a sum or diffrence of two terms.

Consisting of or pertaining to two terms.

Rules to folow when solving a binomial:

F: First

O: Outside

I: Inside

L:Last

Example:

First - multiply the first term in each set of parenthesis: 4x * x = 4x2

First

Outside - multiply the two terms on the outside: 4x * 2 = 8x

Outside

Inside - multiply both of the inside terms: 6 * x = 6x

Inside

Last - multiply the last term in each set of parenthesis: 6 * 2 = 12

Last

combine all remaining numbers and/terms together to make final answer

(20x+9)(x+3)

20x*x =20x²              First

20x*3=60x                 Outside

9*x = 9x                      Inside

6*2= 12                       Last

=20x²+69x+12

To solve a binomial first:

Step1) Multiply the first terms in each parenthesis .

Step2) Multiply the terms that lie outside of each parenthesis.

Step3) Multiply the outside terms in each parenthesis.

Step4) Multiply the last terms of each parenthesis together.

Step5) Finalize your answer by combining the like terms

That's great! However, I think you should add more to your taylormath.pbwiki page because it seems a little too short...

Otherwise, it is fantastic!

Winsome, Why were you making edits after the due date?

Some good information, but off topic. Most of your information is about multiplying a pair of binomials. You have not done a good job of explaining what a binomial is or why one would want to multiply them. I like your links and formating. With some minor changes this could be a good page titled Multiplying Binomial Pairs.

(3 of 4 points) - 25% = 2 of 4.
Project total = 10 of 12
